The easiest way to "crack" an AIX system that you don't have the passwords
to is by booting another copy of AIX. Put in your installation CD, turn the
key to"service" and boot it. Mount the disk file system. Edit the
/disk/etc/security/passwdto remove root's password. Shutdown. Put the key
back. Reboot. No password on root anymore.

You need to know whether it is AIX version 3.1, 3.2, or 4, which you cantell
from the message it produces when it presents the login prompt. Alsoyou need
to have bootable tape or CD (or diskette for version 3) for theversion
involved. Assuming you have media, put the key in service mode andboot. On
when it asks, press 1 or F1 to indicate the console. After awhile, you
should see a menu. Select the option to start a maintenanceshell. This will
bring you to a root prompt with no hard drives mounted(you are running off
the ramdisk filesystem.) On AIX 3.1 type"/etc/continue" and on AIX 3.2 and 4
type "getrootfs hdisk0". This willimport rootvg and mount the standard
filesystems from disk. Now you willget another root prompt,

Not sure about AIX, but you should be able to boot from your
boot floppies and then mount your normal root slice (as /mnt). At that
point
edit the /mnt/etc/shadow file to remove the root password.
Then you can reboot, root will not have a password and you can set it.

a X jinych moznosti:)
