This one crash it all in a very solid reliable way: (1.2.2)

start xmms, load mp3, hit play button and while playing, hit left right
corner -> menu/options/preferences, click libmpg123, click configure
button, click OK in this new window and then in preferences hit "apply"
button ... that's all. one second later you get back text console
without any coredump generated :/

I want to help to resolve it, but I don't know how ...

I haven't had similar problems yet (3 years intensive Linux user), I use
Linux several hours every day and xmms is really the only one piece of
software which does things like that ...
