Neither a "sudo fmtutil-sys --all" nor a "sudo texhash" helped. "locate

This is my error:
$ pdflatex foo.tex
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.11 (TeX Live 2011/dev)
 restricted \write18 enabled.

kpathsea: Running mktexfmt pdflatex.fmt
I can't find the format file `pdflatex.fmt'!
$
