[Fedora TeX Live] 2012 fc17 repository missing?

Thanks Roger!

I think thats good advice and fedup worked nicely on my personal laptop which was already at F17.

I'll bite the bullet and upgrade to F18. (which is why I upgraded to F17 anyway) once I go through the pre upgrade steps

Cheers
Peter

Peter,

I decided not to wait for the texlive to reappear in
http://jnovy.fedorapeople.org/texlive/2012/packages.fc17/

Since Fedora accepted texlive into the stable branch of 18, I bit the bullet and ran 'fedup' to upgrade.
I set the texlive-release.repo   to:
enabled=0
before I upgraded. Anyhow, many texlive/17 packages remained after the upgrade to FC18. So for example you could not upgrade certain packages due to dependencies across both repositories (the OLD: texlive/17 and the NEW: FC18/updates).  So, I decided to clean house and remove all of the packages 'tex-*' since all of those where in the texlive/17 repository. A smart person could probably tell me the correct way to do that (I used duck tape an bailing wire at the prompt:

$ rpm -qa| grep '^tex-*' > installed_Tex_packages_F17.txt

     followed by (sudo or as root):
# yum remove $(cat installed_Tex_packages_F17.txt)

%%  this took awhile, but got rid of all of the old packages + many dependencies in the now current FC18/updates repository.

So, I got myself a fresh texlive with (sudo or as root) :

# yum install texlive-collection-genericrecommended texlive-collection-basic texlive-collection-pstricks texlive-collection-latex texlive-collection-latexextra texlive-collection-fontsextra texlive-collection-fontsrecommended texlive-collection-pictures texlive-collection-documentation-base texlive-collection-latexrecommended texlive-collection-mathextra
[edit as you see fit]

Anyhow, my point now lost in the details above, I am not sure it is worth worrying about updating TeX while you are upgrading Fedora.

All is working, and these are now 'regular' Fedora updates.  Again, a monumental task by Jindrich and others that is well appreciated.

Hi all

I second the vote of  thanks for the massive effort that Jindrich. and others have put in!

I am also keen to know where tex2012 has gone as I just started updating my work laptop from F16 to F18 via F17 which is a slight nightmare. I suspect it would be even if texlive was located where it was a few days ago but I would feel more confident if I knew where it has been migrated

Thanks!

Cheers
Peter
