preklad programu

Dobry den,
nemuzu udelat preklad programu ze zdrojaku.
Mam RH6.1.
./configure hlasi:

works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot
create executables.

Nevim, kde by mohla byt chyba, ani kde bych jinde hledal odpoved.
gcc je instalovany.
