 ... if there are messages about registers holding unexpected values and no
 scanner is detected, try to reset the scanner by doing the following:
  * unplug scanner's power supply
  * unplug parallel port cable
  * plug in scanner's power supply
  * plug in parallel port cable
 If the scanner is detected, but there are some messages about unexpected
 values, you can safely ignore them.

Jedním slovem: ignorovat. Firma Umax je <vložte sprosté slovo> a nechce vydat
dokumentaci.
